• Take the tree and any documentation out of the box
• Check all that should be there, is there.
• Does the tree look in reasonable condition?
• Give the tree a thourogh watering by submerging the pot and tree in water to the depth of the pot for 10 minutes or so.
• Remove tree and pot and let drain.
